Nah that wouldn't fit in well - either building would overshadow the other too much; check Shanghai (SWFC/Jin Mao) for example. I'm not a fan of that. I prefer the gateway as it is. If you're going for the two supertall effect, twins work well (WTC, Petronas).

If you're going to create that effect, take something considerably smaller (in relative size) - e.g., One Island East, next to it. Or, as already exists, the Cullinan Towers.

sometimes i think that icc thingy is too up-front and big just making rest of the kowloon peninsula looking less impressive.

It would fit in brilliantly into somewhere like Manhattan, or even Hong Kong Island. It's a shame it isn't taller - I reckon Kowloon Bay's too "flat" - all the skyscrapers are the same height. Needs some variation.

Also, what's the building in the centre of the picture? I reckon it's one of the best subtly lit buildings in Hong Kong - again, a shame it isn't slightly taller.

Looks like core slowing down in the marathon to the floors. Just curious, has core ever been taken over in height by the floors in any construction? or is that not in the plans?

I don't think that's possible. You need the core to which to attach the floor slabs.

no, that never happened. and how would you want to build that? the floors have to be connected with the core, and when there's no core you've a small problem
