Wonder why they still don't join the lower parts of the cladding, or is it meant like that? (I saw some black stripes at about a third, two thirds of the building in the renders)

I've asked that same question before number of times, and the answer is that this method of cladding is faster... (apparently)

I've noticed that too when the cladding skipped one floor everytime in Phrase 2, then they joined the cladding. The edges (which originally isn't cladded) have finished cladded but why not the center?

One of them, but certainly that's the drop-off/pick up area.

It doesn't seem to be the cladding is skipping floors, but only half installed in each floor. I am guessing that could be for ventilation reason if the E&M hasn't be operational inside.

^ yup it's mechanical floors. the cladding type there is different. "glass louvers"

cladding 101.

as for the half cladding installation or "skipping" installation, yes it's a faster method. the cladding is classified as infill method. spandrell units can be installed at different levels at the same time. as soon as lower and upper spandrel units are done the vision units can just be "infilled". the main reason why it was done way is because the outer skin of spandrell units (shingles) needs to be separate or removable member as required by BD (building department) as the shingle extends beyond the property line of ICC. it's treated as "temporary" structure. if you dont get what i mean. think of a neon signage that extends beyond the property line of a commecial buildings/stores in HK. sometimes it's already in he middle of the roads. (clever way to get away with building regulations)

this infill method was adopted for the burj dubai (soon to be called burj abu dhabi haha as it will be owned by abu dhabi soon.) going back to the topic, this "infill" method was adopted for the cladding on the mechanical floors ( tier interfaces) to catch up the much delayed schedule. if not, then up to now the cladding would only be half way or 3/ 4 if the old swiss design of cladding was not changed.kudoz to the designer who both designed ICC and new BD claddings. im not talking about SOM nor KPF here...
