Who cares about how many stars has? For me the Hotel in ICC tower will be great (even with 3 or 4 stars)

That's a view for any regular flight on the approach to the HKIA from the right flight path.

The photos could be touched up a bit to improve the contrast:

Stonecutters Bridge is looking nice in these shots. Close to completion.

For me, the last picture on post #4284 really puts things into perspective.

Absolutely incredible the way it shows pretty much the entire island and harbor! Im always impressed with all the pics I see from HK, but all of the pics on this post are at a loss for words! This city is a must-visit for me, and I hope to do so in the near future. Maybe I will get lucky and be able to score a room at the top of ICC!

Those rooms have got to be upwards of at least $800 (and up) a night!!

The city's top hotels (The Peninsula, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, The Shangri-la, the former Ritz-Carlton) start at about US$400-US$550 a night (for a deluxe room booked in 'peak season' - August - from the source), so I don't think the rooms at the new Ritz-Carlton will be DOUBLE that.

Naturally, but they'd never fit an iconic tower with a 3* or 4* hotel.

In any case, the 'star' rating of a hotel generally refers to the amenities provided by the hotel, rather than anything intangible that we like to rate. For a full experience, the AAA award is a better indicator, however, this is only available in North America and seems to be something akin to what 'we' conceive to be a 6* or 7* - i.e., 'that extra bit'...as only 160-odd hotels were awarded the top honour.

Just get a harbour view room at the Salisbury YMCA. Great location, great view, small, clean, safe rooms and very cheap.

What is the purpose of the big unused brown piece of land on the far right in the pics?
