I'm not trying to say one city is better than another here, but there is a simple way to compare NY and HK skyscrapers. The tallest 25 skyscrapers in NY range from 381m (Empire State) to 228m (Avenue of the Americas), whereas the tallest 25 in HK range from 484m (ICC) to 214m (Sun Hung Kai Center).

The HK skyline tapers off faster, having fewer medium-sized skyscrapers in the 300-200m range. However, HK has 7 supertalls (ICC, IFC2, BOC, Central Plaza, The Centre, Nina Towers, One Island East) but NY has only 2 supertalls (ESB and Chrysler). Of course, in the next decade NY will get some more supertalls, but that doesn't count right now.

Also, each skyline has its own unique charms. Both are incredibly dense, but Hong Kong has a more lively, neon-ized skyline that gives it a Blade Runner atmosphere. New York used to have the iconic Twin Towers, unfortuntely now gone. Hong Kong is set against a mountain backdrop but New York is one of the original skyscraper cities.

I don't think you can really say which is "better," but you can certainly have an opinion about it.

I'm not going to perpetuate the HK vs. NY argument (because I have nothing to add), but as someone who has lived in both cities and spent significant time in the midst of their buildings, I just want to say 'BRAVO!' to the recent posts of _00_deathscar and Krattle.

Also loving the latest pictures posted by Aboveday and Skybean!

Neon would be the best word to describe Hong Kong in my opinion. All of the HK martial arts films that have big shootouts down on the docks with all the neon lights in the background is very iconic for the city. When I think of New York, I think of class, style, and history.

Yes, the moon is real. It's a common optical illusion that when the moon appears near the horizon it appears to be larger than it is, an effect rather enhanced by long-distance/telephotography

Great photo.

Surely The Center (my personal favourite by a mile), BoC and Nina take that hands down?! ICC isn't even lit up yet - looking forward to when it is though.

Can't you work a bit on your 'watermark'?

Your pictures are great, your watermark is contrastingly gash.
