I don't care what position Hong Kong's skyline holds in the Big 3, but it sure as hell has the best nighttime lighting!

I hv been thinking of this question: Why did they want to build most of the commercial skyscrappers on Hong Kong Island instead Kowloon which is on the mainland? Much more space there right?

Only since Kai Tak Airport closed down in 1998 have the height restrictions in the Kowloon area been lifted. Prior to that, there were height restrictions and hence relatively few very tall skyscrapers. Since Kai Tak has closed there have been an ever increasing number of very tall skyscrapers constructed, particularly in areas such as Tsim Sha Tsui and Langham Place in Mongkok. Also Kowloon Bay which is adjacent to the Kai Tak site also now has a mushrooming number of skyscrapers.

Hong Kong Island has traditionally been the 'city centre', where the financial district is located. Hence, the key business activities takes place on that side of the harbour.

Ribarca - excellent vantage point.

Can you get one at dusk as the sky is a shade of red, blue and purple and all the lights are turning on? And also, another shot from the same angle, but zoomed in a bit more?

Also, as a general rule... if there are more space, there's less need for skyscrapers. But for HK, I guess it's more about HK Island being traditionally the business centre.
