About the cladding: why they left a empty space without cladding in the middle of the building, probably at 50th floor (?), as it seen from those photos, including mine post (photo)?

they probably hate that floor.

thats the beauty of the cladding design! no need to finish everything down before they can finish more important portion above like crown and hotel cladding.

(same idea was adopted in bd cladding!)

Most of my camera stuff is at Canon. I had some issues with my camera and a lens. But I have tons of pictures I have on my hard disk. I will post a few from the last 2 weeks!

An older pano. The quality is not the greatest but it does show ICC in its contest. HK from Kai Tak to Stonecutters bridge.

Six die in HK lift shaft plunge

The ICC will be the world's fourth largest building

Six workers have died in Hong Kong after falling 17 storeys down a lift shaft in what is set to become the territory's tallest skyscraper.

The workers were on a platform that gave way on the 27th floor, plunging them to the 10th.

The International Commerce Centre in Kowloon's Tsim Sha Tsui district will become the world's fourth tallest building on completion in 2010.

Chief Executive Donald Tsang visited the scene and pledged a full inquiry.

Emergency workers initially recovered three injured workers but they were confirmed dead on arrival at hospital.

Three more bodies were later retrieved.

Mr Tsang pledged support for the families of the dead workers and said there would be a full investigation.

Broadcaster RTHK quoted Labour Secretary Matthew Cheung as saying that the developer, Sun Hung Kai, had agreed to pay the families of the dead workers HK$1m ($129,000) in an ex-gratia payment, before the payment of other compensation to be determined later.

When it opens next year, the International Commerce Centre will rise to 118 floors.

Only the Burj in Dubai, the Shanghai World Financial Centre and Taiwan's Taipei 101 will be taller.

Elevator Shaft Accident Kills Six Workers in Hong Kong Tower

By Kyunghee Park

Sept. 13 (Bloomberg)
-- Six Hong Kong construction workers died after falling in an elevator shaft in the International Commerce Centre, the city’s tallest building, the police said.

Police spokesman Lawrence Li confirmed the sixth death this evening after firefighters found the man. The other five bodies were retrieved earlier.

Authorities are investigating and believe the workers fell from the 30th floor to the 10th floor, Suzanne Lee, a spokeswoman for the Hong Kong government said today. The accident was reported to the Fire Services Department at around 1:18 p.m. local time, Lee said.

Radio Television Hong Kong reported the workers were on a platform that fell.

Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd., which is developing the 118- story building in West Kowloon, opposite Hong Kong island, plans to give families of the victims HK$1 million ($129,000) each, Vice Chairman Thomas Kwok said today. The developer also will pay for the funeral expenses, he added.

“This is a serious accident and we are very sorry,”
Matthew Cheung, secretary for labor and welfare, said in a statement on the government Web site. “We’ll make sure similar accidents do not occur in the future.”

Morgan Stanley Asia Ltd. Chairman Stephen Roach, speaking from his 46th floor office in the building, said the accident was “awful” though he didn’t have any details. Deutsche Bank AG and Credit Suisse Group AG have signed leases to move into the building, which was designed by Kohn Pederson Fox Associates. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. will take up the top floors.

The lower floors of the skyscraper were occupied from the first quarter of 2008 and the tower is expected to be completed next year, according to the building’s Web site.

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Officer Donald Tsang, along with other top officials, visited the scene of the accident.

This has happened to almost every single building in the world. And this building is incredibly large, so something like this was overdue to happen.

Still very sad.
I hope they'll have a memorial somewhere in the building though.

Yes there is always something like this happening. It happened to 101 and a lot of buildings.

Feel sorry for their relatives.

This accident is very unfortunate for those six workers and the timing during the final phases of construction could not have been more coincidental. Hopefully some good publicity will follow when ICC is completed.
