Or a transfer lobby, perhaps?

Those are fire escape floors. All new buildings in Hong Kong are required to have these.

One day I will go to Hong Kong, such a beautiful vibrant place to visit, and as for those skyscrapers!

Cool comparison. Six original desings looking really good. One thing i noticed was, from the three towers in HK, BOC had two spires, 2IFC had a smaller crown and ICC is basically flat at the top where as the spires in the three NY buildings got taller progressively.

Yes - also, shouldn't HK's 3rd tallest be Central Plaza and NYC's be BOA Tower? Also, what has this diagram got to do with ICC? =)

for now we have taller towers and more supertalls than NY. HK has to stay ahead with new supertall / skyscraper construction because we simply don't have landmark skyscrapers like chrysler or ESB, not to mention any "historic" or pre war skyscrapers. furthermore NYC is catching up with HK in numbers of finished (or T/O) skyscrapers. but then again noone beats HK in sheer numbers of highrises.

Seriously, I didn't know the spire game was this overplayed, I thought the Freedom tower, being 200 ft taller than the ICC would be around the same height as the ICC even with the spire, I guess it's not.

Also, I never realized the Chrysler building was so small,, it always looks quite big in pictures.

Chrysler is a very thin building, but it still has the nicest spire anywhere.
