As everyone said, on both sides of the harbour are already so bright that stars are invisible. That's true.

But Hong Kong is not like everyone thinks that you can't see stars in the evening anywhere. If you go out to Sai Kung or southside of HK island on the other side of the mountains, you can see stars high in the sky even it's absolutely bright on both side of the Harbour. Because light cannot travel behind the mountains and keep those area dark. These are low altitude ligth pollution, everything is within a certain altitude and it's stll dark up high in the sky.

With the design shooting light staright up to the sky, then it really brights up the entire sky and you can't see the stars anywhere in HK.

Hong Kong is more than just a concrete jungle. There are also areas that are green.

I don't care if the two towers are the brightest on either sides of the harbour as long as they don't have lights shoot straight up into the sky.

You guys are so funny.
Do you all seriously think that they'll perform that lighting all the time?

I don't think they're that crazy man. Or else why they even bother to design the 3rd lighting scheme?

Is it Vegas?

Possibly. I can give you an example of William Tower in Houston, Texas (Galleria area). William Tower has lighthouse style lighting perfermance and it only doing the show just before it gets dark and end at midnight. I am sure it will do the same thing for International Commerce Center.

Well, Atlease HK performs a Giant skyline Firework and lighting spectacular show everynights for the last 2-3 years as I recall?

so I wouldnt think just a beam of light is a big deal for them anyway.
