We're waiting for some more cladding in order to see how shiny it will look and how bright I'm curious about that for now they only are at the begining so we can't tell but in 2 weeks I thinck taht we can see some significant changes

thats the lifting mechanism for the cladding I suppose. lifting the cladding by crane would slow the building proces down. so they build a rail around the building with a liftinglorry on it.

LOL - I remember there was a conspiracy theory on these forums a couple of years ago that the Chinese government didn't want Hong Kong to eclipse their showpiece.

The 484m ICC will be just 8m shorter than the SWFC at 492m. However 2IFC is actually taller than Jin Mao to roof. I'd say it's taller than the Petronas Towers too:

Ya, I agree the Chinese government didn't want hk to be better than them. 492 vs 484, 421 vs 415, etc...SWFC was orginally 460m high, but it was increased to 492 because of ICC...

"The Chinese government didn't want hk to be better than them" -> it is not very logical because Hong Kong is part of China. The Chinese Government in Beijing has no reason to cut HK "short" in order to make Shanghai "tall".

China has many mega-cities which always compare and compete among themselves. SWFC has to be taller than ICC because the Shanghai city government is determined to eclipse HK and the easy way is to build something taller or grandiose. Competition will do no harm as long as it produces good result. SWFC and ICC may be a good example of benign competition.

You`re right, 2IFC is about 30 meters taller than the former WTB the Petronas Towers and Jin Mao Tower in terms of roof height.
ICC will be 2% shorter than SWFC, but will have 10-13% more floor area tha SWFC.
Also notice that ICC will got the Highest Office floor and Highest Hotel of East Asia.
