...because the building is tall?

Pardon me for my ignorance, but I wonder how this core compares with those of SWFC, etc.

Although the height of SWFC is taller than ICC, But the whole building of ICC is heavier than SWFC. So, it need more supporting and the core is bigger as I thought. Am I telling right!

On the other way, ICC has many different kinds of lifts for different purpose.

- Office Shuttle lift
- Hotel Shuttle lift
- Observation Shuttle lift
- Services lift, .......

In Addition of many M/E installation,
it needs bigger core.

The core is to withstand lateral loads. In HK we have very strict standards to meet because we are more likely to face severe typhoons. In fact, lateral loads produced by HK's strong winds surpass that of the greatest earthquakes in Tokyo.

Nobody would try to build a larger core just because they want to fit in more lifts.
