But are all those buildings due to be completed by 2012? With the amount of delays these approved buildings are subjected to I would expect only half of those to be either complete or u/c by 2012.

don't forget the guangzhou TV tower to the spire which is currently U/C with a final height of 610m. Like said before if any of the mentioned on Cuwulla's list are completed by then without delays Taipei 101's days are numbered on the top 10, even if they aren't done by 2012.

BTW, I'm liking the facade of ICC. It should give that nice reflective effect when the sun gleams shines on it, I personally prefer this to SWFC although the Shanghai supertall itself is an absolute stunner. Both are pleasing and huge to the eye.

Both ICC and SWFC are designed by KPF

Isn't that a tower though, as opposed to a building?

I don't really care if ICC's among the tallest buildings in the world or not. The most important thing is that it's an engineering marvel and that it's truly aesthetically pleasing.

Plus the match contrast with adjacent skyline. It's not just a building stick out from nowhere.

In Hong Kong, it's not the building that matters, it's the skyline...

...err, the thread is about observing, enjoying and celebrating the construction of this particular project and about how it sits within the location, not about the overall skyline. So yeah, this building matters.

I think he was referring to the fact that it will, in about 4-5 years time, no longer even be in the top 10 tallest buildings worldwide.

I was commenting on that HK never had the title of the WTB, so that the fact that the ICC will not be in the top 10 in a few years is of little consequence

True, although I believe HK still holds the most amount of skyscrapers above 1000ft/300m?

(Not for long...)
