People have been saying that has been going slowly right from the beginning. But who cares? It's over 300m tall now and climbing up towards 400m. It's clearly getting there so I don't know what you are all whinging about.

It's supposed to be completed in 2010, but the opening will be phased.
First phase next year I think.

Is HK planning to build any taller building than ICC right now?

no nothing planned talled than ICC and i doubt anything will be for a while since it'll be what the 3rd tallest building in the world. It is so massive though, i'm looking at it from my office now. As of today they're on the 81st floor so only 37 more to go.

No and most HKers don't need another supertall. But, its good that they are placing the cladding on the lower levels. Give you an idea of what the skyscraper will look like.

Nothing concrete on the tables yet as developers wait and see how leasing at ICC and Island East go before they commit the dollars to building another supertall. They don't want to oversupply the market, hurting returns for everyone.

Developers being considerate for one another?! O.o

Always good, though, at least hk developers have some sense.

It's not consideration for one another, but more for the market as a whole. If anyone breaks the system by flooding the market with capacity, then everyone gets a low price and suffers. It's a connected market.

Not realistic proposals to start. No plans to build them right now.

There are 3 major supertalls that have recently finished or are close to completion : ICC, Nina, and One Island East. That's a lot of supply. As much as they're talking about the need to build more grade A office buildings to relieve price rises in Central, I don't think any developer would like to get in the way now to announce a new tall office building. Where that might be is also questionable.

don't forget there is a height restriction on hong kong island now. even if the market has the demand for more office space, it won't be any supertalls like IFC, ICC or OIE. the building will not be approved if it is on either side of the harbour..

Why aren't there many pictures of this at dusk? The whole complex, as ugly as Harbourside and The Arch maybe, do look good at night (in typical Hong Kong fashion)
