I'm sorry Horizon but I must say that you're totally wrong on this.

Paris is certainly among the cities having the best and most modern infrastructures. Which other city in the world is connected by 4 High speed rail lines in all directions, North, South, West, East ? Paris has also an expensive motorway network with three ring motorways and more than half a dozen radial motorways ? Which other Western city has built from scratch a brand new second level of urban rail network in only 30 years, the RER, and this in digging more than 50 km of tunnels ?

Considering that Paris is reluctant to change simply because it doesn't want to raze beautiful buildings in its very center and build concrete blocks instead doesn't make sense. The district of the Opera is certainly among the most beautiful business district in the whole world. There are techniques, especially façadism, which make it possible to build new and keep classical façades. Considering that architects benefits from at least a dozen of other business districts in the Paris urban area to express their modernity, I simply don't see one single argument to behave otherwise.

Model of the Phare Tower

Organic shape is costly but, in my opinion, worth it.

That's exactly what wjfox is trying to achieve here. It's better you put him in the brig if he continues with his trolling, rather than locking the thread. Besides, what's the point of locking a thread discussing one of the most talked-about skyscrapers in the world? It would be like locking the Burj Dubai thread.

I didn't know what to make of this when I first saw the render, but I like it now! I like it so much because it is a unique design, and is fun, and i've never seen anything like it before! It will look very interesting on the Paris skyline. As for Paris being reluctant to change, that is totally understandable considering what a beatiful City they have got, and it's great to see that unlike London, (where they are demolishing perfectly good 19th Century buildings and relacing them with modern crap) Paris is keen to hold onto it's most beautiful imperial architecture which is normal!

This tower only when it will be built every ones will be able to have a final idea of if its ugly or aesthetic, good or bad, a revolution in architecture or a great failure...

plus currently, its nothing but a ''concept idea'' of what the final tower will be...the architect himseld said it...so...

I can only agree. Compared to the cut and thrust of the uk london metro forum the london/paris stuff was trivial. AND intelligent points from a number of posters have been deleted. A pity when we were discussing a significant project that will possibly influence future european cityscapes for a long time. I have seen a render of la defense including the axa tower redevelopment, the generali and this superb morphosis project. It is a pointer to the future.

Paris don`t need to change. It`s the most beautiful city in the world.

I have to admit it, even that i am a German.

The building looks strange. With a dark facade it will look very creepy and with a bright facade it will look interesting.

Edit: Brisavoine is not banned anymore, apparently, so I decided to change the content of this post, hoping that it will prevent any other "collateral damages" in that thread.

It's not terrible but the shape just doesn't appeal to me. I love the sleek look of everything built in La Defense up till now though.
