Most people said that about the eiffel tower...

Anyhow, this is one of the innovative deisgns i really like. Many twisting towers are a pain to the eye, as are some other unconventional designs desperately trying to stand out from the rest.

@ to the people who says its ugly.

when building a skyscrpaer, their is a few imortant things.
(1) The look of the building, inlcuding design, color, height, etc
(2) How it blends wih the other building aroung (very important)
(3) The ending results.

:P

That is true. We will be unable to judge accurately the impact of the Phare tower untill it will be built. This could indeed make people anxious, but somehow it could also be considered as exciting.

But anyway, I think the great strength of both Phare and Generali is that they will vastly improve our perception of the whole district of La Défense. The image of La Défense will be totally changed, and in good.

Yeah, it might blend well...if there were other old thrown away loofahs in the skyline. And to those who praise it for looking "organic"...please it's just past dinner time here....

I don't you see what ou don't get? YOu have to admist that it is not the worst building ever. It blends well with the other buildings, it blends well with the skyline, so here we go, its good. and La Défensewon't get some 'old trown away loofahs' ... I'm sure they will get more skyscrpars, and of good quality too. Can't wai to see Tour Signal, it will even make La Défence BETTER. lol

the tower has a very interesting design, but i think la defense needs a real monument, something that stands out from the other towers, something that is much bigger than all the other ones.

I confirm what Cyril's said.

Terrible is exactly what inspire terror, what is impressive enough to inspire awe. In common language it means something that's impressive enough to be respected.

These were the best ones IMO.

Wayne's not that bad with some distance, we'll have to wait and see. Foster's merely looks like a tall version of Commerztbank and Repsol together.

The more it goes, the less I like Mayne's project. I'm still very seduced by the front of the building, but I have strong difficulties to understand its back. I don't see the point in making such a rupture between the two sides.
