It is like a big parasite challenging the supremacy of Eiffel Tower in the Paris' skyline aiming for attention.
First, tour phare doet not aim to surpass Eiffel Tower. Even if it would, it could not.
Second, phare is in La Défense, among dozens of skyscrapers. It aims to play first a symbol for the quarter, then for a period of architecture.
Third...it has nothing to do with the rich architecture of France? What's an argument, what's an historical and outdated argument! Already said about Eiffel Tower, Guimard subway entrance, Le Corbusier housing, Pompidou Centre and most recently about the Louvre's pyramid... Everything you like in Paris was at its time controversial. Thanks for your demonstration, your message shows how new is Thom Mayne's architecture and how this building is holding with a continuity of architectural innovations in Paris. **** is beautiful

Sorry just to say I think it is going to be a cool landmark, especially given the quality of some past productions of Morphosys. Only the top makes me wonder but depending on the materials it could also look very good.

if you consider a pritzker price someone without talent... and if you could imagine such architecture, please become architect! You'll earn more than money...

Despite of what many people may think, I would love to see this skyscraper being built.

Thanx for your explanation. And I know by mentioning I have never been to Paris is going to be my flaw here, but that's the perfect point, eventhough I have never been there those proposals wich I liked are so great in a whole sense that made me agree and understand those ¨lame¨ designs. Whereas for ME, I do not see the relevant point of Morphosis' skyscraper for it has nothing to do with MY view of Paris.
So in my very humble opinion, the reason I really think it is ugly is not only based in the architectural object itself, but as I understand, architecture is not only the object but also the way it fits with its surroundings, so what is the surroundings of La Defense then? As you mentioned it is sited in a district where there are several others buildings. I have seen it before, some of the buildings are all glassy and just a cube extruded. I am against this kind of architecture to Paris to begin with, and this Tour le Phare is just to emphasise
the idea that all cities must look alike must follow the same form, formula....

And yes, MOrphosis is a great firm with dozens of great projects...I am not putting it to a trial.

entre nous je trouve bien qu il ny ai presque pas de tours dans Paris meme mais bon c une question de point de vue je pense que paris serait gacher par des gratteciels c est une tres belle ville historique et donc les tours n y ont pas leur place selon moi

he said he was waiting for the signal tower and that he wanted skyscrapers in Paris but I say I disagree with him because paris must stay a historical city
