The cladding looks more like an elegant dress now rather then just a plan old glass wall. I like it.

If built, this will be very impressive to watch in real life. I couldn't help but stare at if for long periods of time.

Surely this tower will look better when finished.

I'm designing a terraced house based on the architect's work, and ultimately, this tower for university. C'est magnifique!

(concept images - I'm making it practical now!)

Personally, I don't really like the design. However, I do appreciate the consistency of design language in the different design elements. They really work well together. Interesting.

is it only the rippling cladding, or was something else changed as well?

EDIT: oh, i see the difference now.

it would be cool if the glass panels could move to maximize the efficiency of the amount of natural light coming in

I'm sorry this just looks awful. It looks like some the result of an accidental disaster in a nano-technological laboratory... a kind of grey goo but in architectural form 1000ft high.

It doesn't fit in with the La Defense cluster. It doesn't fit in with Paris. It doesn't fit in with France.

Just terrible.

Bring back the Tour Sans Fin by Jean Nouvel... that was a worthy skyscraper for La Defense. Not this zoomorphic nano-cad catastrophe.

Interesting but very crazy thing... Perhaps it is a bit exagerated creating movement...

Because it's not about THE Tour Phare amigo.
There is a place somewhere here to post personal projects but I can't remember where it is.

it may be an original and futuristic design but i really don't like this tower at all! i probably wouldn't say no if it was designed for Dubai or China, but Paris? NO PLEASE!

I don't know what to think about this building. One part of me says "wow, what a hideous blob". Another part of me sees it as an elegant tower unlike anything else I've ever seen. Overall I like the building, and feel it should be built. I feel like this is one of those towers that eventually everyone will fall in love with.

The design looks great. The only thing i don't like is the top. it's so messy.

this Phare is not a building is not a scraper ! this phare is just an animal coming, swimming from the abyss, from the ocean and stopping his travel on the large granite plate of la défense. it's an animal and every animal has a head and a head has hairs ! then what's wrong with this top ? nothing ! this creature is an achievement, this creature is an alien and an alien with head and hairs ? what's wrong ? nothing ! thanks mister tom mayne for this unique creation ! paris had an unique building with centre pompidou-beaubourg and now paris will have a second unique building with the tour phare !
this phare is very punky, very smart ! yessssssss !
tour phare is just a giant Squid, a giant octopus, a giant cuttlefish, just an architeuthis !
Phare is only a stuffed animal !
and tom mayne is not an architect, tom mayne is a famous Taxidermist !
