Well... Being who you are will kindda force defining or redefining the word 'masterpiece' if you stamp your name all over your creation.
In Trump's case we're talking about defining that word once and for all. So... No.

Looks like they're pouring floor slabs about once every 4-5 days, per i_am_hydrogen's pics...

From a block w - House of Blue - attached to Marina City

Today for the first time I was able to take Lower Kinzie past Trump ( I think the gates were moved back, and left open inadvertantly ).
( straight ahead in this image )

Looking East from Wabash - May 2005, note the 2 level bridge ( Michicagan ) on the right and the decked sidewalk on the left ( Lower Kinzie passes between the 2 Wrigley towers, below that sidewalk - it will be my most direct path to the spire once open )

Looking W from Kinzie at the side of Wabash ( Nov 2005 )

Parking ramp ( Feb 2006 ) The framing in the circle on the right side ( N ) is for the door that now opens onto lower Kinzie

Lower level on the East side looking W from Lower Kinzie ( Dec 21 2007 )

do these multi level streets cover the whole city or is it onlt certian areas? cos it looks very useful for a big city, especially if u can have parking on the level below!

Also! are the lower 2 road levels below ground level or do they just appear like that because they've been built upwards and buildings have been built up around them?

Those multi-level streets (they are mostly within a couple of blocks of the east-west part of the river and extend south on Wacker Drive to the Congress Parkway/Eisenhower Expressway) were first built in the 1910s as a way of getting building service traffic off of the surface streets - an innovative way of addressing choking levels of traffic congestion. The streets and building lobbies near the river were elevated a level at that time to allow it. They have an interesting history that can fill books.

Also, along the north shore of the river, a freight railroad spur ran on the lower street level, it was how the Sun-Times got their newsprint supply when they were in their old building on the Trump site. 40-50 years ago, that spur also actively served the industrial properties in the area where the Spire is now being built.

Still there - may be used for a future transit line.

Derailment on Lower Carrol

Back when it was sunny - 353 N Clark is now starting to block thes space on the left - Quaker (ABA) building is on the right.

For true multilevelness keep in mind there is a subway line underneath in the background of the last photo ( Dearborn st ) and that the Quaker building sits on top of number 2 station on the old underground freight system, one of whose tunnels cuts across the ring of the core of the Chicago Spire ( the white "marshmellows ") a mile down the street.

Donald Trump’s downtown hotel is set to open at the end of January, nearly two months later than planned.

That's the Heritage at Millennium Park, 189m / 57 floors, finished in 2005. Trump Tower had already passed this height at the time this picture was taken.
