300 North LaSalle seems to take some of Trump's thunder from that angle.

Yea, but apparently spires count, antennas dont.
I guess it has something to do with spires being architectural, and antennas not.

This one has gone up at the speed of light!

Does anyone have a picture of it on the Chicago skyline? Like to see how it has shaped it.

This tower's rather like Sear tower. It's luxurious. I like it.

i couldnt imagine ESB without its spire. it would look incompete which is whole idea of including spires/antennas. thats when that rule falls down.
of course its 449m tall. Its like saying John hancock is 343m which it clearly needs its antennae for its full design. i think CBUH need to amend there rules.
I laugh when they said also that its just 90ft shorter then sears Tower. yes thats to its roof, what about its enormous spires. that reach 527m! oh thats right there antenea? yet another case. who reckons Sears tower would loook incompelte without its antena?
its height should include antenna.
anyway
rant over.

I agree, well stated... some structures just wouldn't be legendary without the antennas/spires that complete their stature (especially John Hancock and Empire)

ok, heres latest update.
Trumps getting to the business end of construction. its reached magic milestone of supertall.
looks like 10 more floors/40m to go to main roof.
btw why is thread say 96floors? should be 92.
theres 5 more 3.1m floors ,then 4x 4m floors,+ 1x5m floor

The old classic buildings fit very well with the new buildings. Lovely.

That nice Art Deco tower in the foreground is the Carbide & Carbon Building from 1929, 153m tall, now hosting the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago.

But on that pic I like especially how the glassy Trump Tower surrounds the slender Mather Tower. Great panorama!

That is the Carbide and Carbon building - recently renovated and currently home to the Hard Rock Hotel...

Apart from the mechanical floor cladding, the rest of the tower's glasses are nearly identical to Burj Dubai's

They are very similar, yes. And both really beautiful. I see nothing bad about that.
