When I was in chicago, I rode on one of the boat tours, and there the tour guide told me that it was gonna be 150 floors.
Was this ever true? Or was the initial plan changed?
Chicago is definitely U.S's #1 skyline.
Especially after the erection of the trump tower and the spire.
I really like the facade of the trump.

I think it's nicer than Sears, it deserves to go to 500m!!

The original plan was to have it be 2000 feet tall (150 stories), and it was thus scaled back after 9/11.

can you imagine! 2 2,000 ft. tall towers under-construction in Chicago IF 9-11 wouldn't happen...

I have strong feeling that this topped out already in concrete structure. If not then how many floors left??

It's certainly tall enough to make a statement on the skyline!

Chicago has the best skyline in the world. It is absolutely amazing. In "The Dark Knight" movie it was just a feast for the eyes.
beautiful, and it will only get better.

What I like about Chicago is that it has a river running right through it!

The initial plan was for "world's tallest" but I don't it got far enough to come up with a number of floors before Trump backed down.

Be careful what you believe from the tour guides in Chicago. I've heard them tell some real whoppers when I take tours with people I have visiting from out of town. Just a couple of months ago I heard one tell his group that the Wrigley Building and Wrigley Field have the same name because they're both owned by the Wrigley chewing gum company and that the gum company owns the Chicago Tribune. Many falsehoods there.

I'm sure there are lots of excellent tour guides in Chicago. The boat guides seem better informed than the bus guides. But Chicago doesn't have the rigorous training and licensing that most international tourist destinations do.

Same thing in New York.

I hate it when the tour guy says that the Trump World Tower is taller than the Chrysler Building.

Why do they even bother?

Just tour the city in silence!

I took a boat tour in Chicago when i was there two weeks ago and the tour guide told us that the Chicago Spire was going to be the tallest building in the world at 18,000ft tall.

Belt girder (very deep beams) work at the roof level is currently under way. Roof slab is not yet in place. Penthouse for the elevator machine room will be built after that.
