Is that wind-blown snow that has piled like 6ft high on the side of that building? What is that called...drifts?

Yes the term is Snow Drift, but that is the snow plowed off of the driveway (for cars to get to their garages) between the townhomes.

In Chicago snow Drifts, sand Dunes , we will often just call the drifts and dunes and assume everyone else understands.

It definitely is. Not only does the silhouetted skyline look great, but you can really see the amazing low-rise density in Chicago's inner core. Nice find, spy.

Anyone knows when they are going to start the work on the spire cover? Looks to me like there was no progress since the spire was assembled.

A little closer and a little darker and I finally saw it from Grand Beach, about 40 miles or 64 km away.

How did you take those last two pictures up close like that from so far away? They look so cool!

Chi649, thanks for sharing. Your second photo is absolutely incredible! It almost looks like an aerial shot of the Himalaya breaking through the cloud deck.

Great pics guys.

I love the new B pics esp.

But does anyone else think that this spire is kind of wimpy.

I myself hate spires but this one is really weak IMO.

I used an 18-200mm lens zoomed in as close as I can get and then cropped the image.

Thank you very much i_am_hydrogen. Right now the dunes are crazy, everythings covered in snow and ice, with no visible water.
