Chi649 is shooting across the lake, just before that are some photos with the icy river in front. Some shots of the ice on the lake are in this set Snow and Ice in Chicagoland

That last photo is unique. It changed the scale of Trump and 300 N. LaSalle by cutting off their bases and with the juxtaposition with low density neighborhood in front, it seems that the photo wasn't taken in Chicago at all. The photographer also managed to isolate the skyline to just those two buildings from that angle, which adds to the effect.

I agree with your impression from the photo. I do, however, find it interesting that the neighborhood seems to be low-density. I love this part of the city (Google earth 41deg 54' 12.07"N, 87deg 39' 50.06"W) because, to me, it is the ultimate urban setting: the river, the Kennedy expressway, the Union Pacific railroad tracks with Metra commuter service, the industry along Elston Ave. and on Goose Island, the CTA Blue Line transitioning from elevated to underground nearby, and a 6-mile round tirp morning run to Sears Tower and back. For about 6 years, I lived about a block away from where the photo was taken, and loved it. I could sit on the front porch, drink a beer, and watch the sunset changing the color of the west side of the skyline.
Sorry for going off-topic, but thanks for reading.

That is actually the AON Center and not 300 N. Lasalle. If you look closely, you can see Two Prudential Plaza right next to it.
