Chicago truly appreciates the architectural critiques that come out of Copenhagen. But dude your tallest building, the Carlsberg Hovedkontor is 289 feet. Give us a call when you get your 1st 1000 footer.

Please don't think this guy is representative of Danish opinion. This tower will be great!! Will only be surpassed in beauty by the Chicago Spire and in my opinion it will be just as good as the Hancock (Sears a #4 in my ranking).

And no, Copenhagen surely is nowhere in the league of Chicago when it comes to skyskrapers. I for one wouldn't mind Trump building a tower in CPH! And I think Carlsberg HQ is only 240 feets tall..

Sorry quick question, what is that building in between Smurfit stone and the other tower directly in the background of Reinsdorf pic. Isn't that the location of Waterview or am I confused. I know it can't be Waterview casue they have just finished excavating the site. But if not Waterview doesn't that building look like its underconstruction.

Sorry guys I just think the tower design is bad, especially compared to the Sears Tower, the John Hancock Tower and Marina City, which I think all are brilliant. Trump is too much a businessman and he probably had too much influence in the design. The tower will not make it into any architectural magazines.

That's ok NICE, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You are definitely in the minority though. There are many people, including myself, that think this building will become an icon. Honestly, I did not like the design when I first saw it. But this building has grown on me tremendously, especially after seeing how brilliant the facade looks. The asymmetrical shape of it has also grown on me, with the beautiful glass curves.

So anyway, give it some time and you may like it more. Especially when this thing starts to get a lot taller.

I'm wondering if you've ever visited Chicago.

To fully understand and judge this building requires a certain knowledge of both the geographic and man-made layout of Chicago. The way the Trump interfaces with the river, lake, elevated rails, and Michigan Avenue are, imho, MORE IMPORTANT than the size of a spire or how the design may look to a non-Chicagoan without any knowledge of the context in which the building is being built.

You may not like this building in and of itself, but someday, if you have a chance to visit the birthplace of skyscrapers, you may understand why so many Chicagoans are watching its climb to the sky with nothing but satisfaction.

yeah, the tower was designed especially for that plot of land, interaction with the street is decent for a such a monstorous thing, but it looks amazing along the canals. just what trump goes for, visibility. this is just as significant and great as the sears tower.

smurfit stone isn't in that pic. the waterview is going up just to the right of the donnelly building (which is kinda right in the center of that photo). i think that's correct.
