I know how you feel! In the UK we've only got one 150m tower under construction (a few others have started groundwork but that's just not as interesting as seeing steel rise + cladding going on etc).

A large number of towers have been put on hold and some cancelled due to the economy

We'll just have to be patient, I'm sure something major will get off the ground in both cities eventually. We have Ground Zero to look forward to, if nothing else. Work will most likely continue there no matter what the economy is like.

Umm, what about Heron Tower.. 242m?? Strata almost 150m and makes up for it in design, plus Pinnacle 288m and Shard 310m at the piling stages..

this is such a stunning pic! you can see that many skyscrapers are under constuction... Chicago is just wow!
(is there a large version of the pic, I want to use it as a desktop...)

The bottom part is supposed to be active.

Maybe they just have t he top lights on for safety reasons.
