Why do I get the feeling that people are trying to make this thread go on and on as long as possible since there is no other Chicago supertall being built?

Wow, that photo really does make that tower look tall.
Never knew that the John Hancock centre had an above ground carpark.

the new WTC isn't designed by SOM is it? I thought it was designed by Foster, or something like that.

Actually it is by a SOM architect, don't know where i got the other idea from!?

The new WTC 1 is similar to the WTC proposed in Chicago next to Merchandise Mart during the early 80's (the one on the right)

It would have been 50 floors higher than the Burj Dubai but a bit shorter overall.

My god, how much floor space would that building have had?

It would have beeen about 9 million square feet if it had the same average floor area per floor as the Sears Tower, but it looks wider overall. Sears Tower is also wider overall than 1 WTC. I read somewhere that it would have had a capacity for 46,000 workers.

Although I think Trump himself to be tacky, this building has turned out to be beautiful. Well done. Great addition to the skyline of the first true skyscraper city's skyline
