What are the chances that Trump extends the height of the building?

negativ . originally the wanted to build higher than sears, but they had to reduce the height.....for me a clear sign that they can't increase the height

Donald Trump is too wussy to build taller than planned. He even reduced the height after 9/11 attacks!

Yes, Trump and his team were concerned about terrorism - and reduced the height because of it.

That ultimately led to the choice of concrete rather than steel, which in turn limits height regardless of terror concerns.

So to answer your question, I would say there is a good chance they extend the height of the building so long as it makes economic sense. When new technological advances came out in concrete a year or so ago, they tacked 2 more floors to the plan. In other words, the extended before so why not do it again as long as the dollars add up.

A serious question:

Why don't they build the mile Tower in Chicago, when the trump tower or the Spire will be totally sold ( I guess) before they even completed the tower?

I am sure they would also sell the apartments in a height of 1600m (4800ft).
And there will be enough people paying so much for an apartment, that the "mile tower" would even be rentable for the builder!

Is concrete more resistant to a hit by a plane compared to a steel frame?

How are sales going at the moment?

i have a feeling its not because donald trump is a "pussy" but that insurance costs on a tall building in post 9/11 america would be very high.

They built using concrete because the site is small and if they were to use steel it would have to be 25 feet wider and there was no room for that with the street being there. He reduced the height after 9-11 because the demand/projected demand for a (tallest) building went down dramaticly for awhile.

And concrete can go very high (Burj Dubai goes up to 586m before switching to steel)

If anyone is interested in staying at the Trump Hotel like I plan to, I got back some prelim rates from the Trump hotel group. Snipit.

"Depending on the availability, the rates for a Deluxe King City View (607 sq. ft.) will vary between $325 and $525 per night, and for a Grand Deluxe 2 Bedroom Suite with a Lake View the nightly rate will range between $1,025 and $1,575. Unfortunately we will not be able to create any SPA package for you and your family in December, as the SPA will not be completed until March of 2008.

We will open our doors to the guests on December 1st, 2007 and we would be delighted to welcome you..."

Funny, look who is advertising in this fourm and this particular thread no less.

Thanks. Your views aren't so shabby, either. We move to 300 N Lasalle in early 2009, so I should still be at Aon when Trump tops out. Until then, I'll be putting that 420mm zoom lens to good use.
