I can't say much about this building except that it will be an eyesore on the river. The picture with the Wrigley Building in the foreground is a great example.... a nasty chrome and blue tube adjacent to this beautiful terra cotta building.... actually it will appear to hover over the WB and overpower it.

I am having a difficult time getting used to this thing... I guess I have little choice? But as soon as a huge TRUMP sign is pasted on it, that's when I will be really annoyed...

The Chicago Spire needs to go up FAST!!!

I don't see how anyone could possibly dislike this building. It's got it all perfect location, facade, and height! Great updates by the way!

I'm inclined to agree with you actually, this is pretty much the only supertall u/c which is on par with the likes of SWFC/ICC and BD in terms of style/beauty and quality. I know others will disagree.

I agree and would add BOA in NYC to that list. If anything, you've got to be impressed with perhaps the "cleanest" looking construction site in the World.

It nicely fills the space between the Aon Center and The John Hancock Building, but it clashes with the rest of the skyline a bit.

I think my opinion may change once it's built...but cmon that design belongs in Dubai or Shanghai or something, not Chicago. Height is not so much the deciding factor but how well it blends and compliments the surrounding skyline...this building is not only totally isolated, but wouldn't really compliment anything if it were right in the Loop. Only time will tell for me, I'd have to see the finished product.

30 years ago people were saying that the Sears Tower and John Hancock designs belong in New York, but not Chicago. Now they're icons of the city.

Heck, even just a few years ago you had a hard time finding a native Chicagoan who thought Cloud Gate was anything but an ugly, expensive waste of time. But as someone who until recently lived across from Millennium Park, I can tell you that it is probably the second-biggest tourist attraction in the city. No one asks how to get to Sears Tower or the water tower anymore. They all want to see "The Bean."

The Chicago Spire will be the same way six months after it's open.

HAHAHA HEHEHE the Trump sign as a WTB!!!

In reality, however, this building is impressing me more. The location is exceptional!!

^The Trump sign needs to be in gold!

I'm in love with this facade, reminds somewhat of BOA in NYC, but this is perfection. Sleek, lively, reflective, shiny and blue. This will go down as Trump's best, he's building a masterpiece for the Chi.

I think we can take comfort in knowing that Trump won't put his stupid name in big gold letters on this one. At least, not on the outside. This one's too classy (and expensive, you can be sure) for that.

Yes, the glass is superb, no doubt about that. The IBM buidling is a nice dark backdrop that sets the blue glass off perfectly, at least for the lower half of this building.

Once the next setback is reached, there will be the reconfiguration and it will rise with ease consistently to the main roof.

thats a hellva statement coming from a New Yorker! I havent seen all of Trump's buildings, but this one has got to be up there. I just thank God he didnt do it in gold like his Vegas tower. I think Chicagoans would have burned it down as soon as it topped off!
