Yeah Trump might be a walking satire, but he really knows how to make it look classy!

You may not like the guy but it is egos like his that built EVERY ONE of the tall buildings that we know and love today. Without them, the World would be a bland and boring place indeed.

Build on!

p.s. I'm in love with the tacky "unregistered" at the top. maybe I should buy it...

It's good to see that area of the site taking shape. It's also nice to see the river busy with passing boats.
A resturant on a floating dock would look brilliant in that area.

I bet that park will become one of the standard movie locations in the future.

Are all of you drinking Trump wine? Eating Trump cakes? Licking a Trump-toad????

This building couldn't be more of an eyesore... typical of all Trump Buildings...

Honestly... really... why are so many people praising this chrome behemoth?? The photos do not describe what this building is becoming. Stand on the Michigan Ave. bridge and see how out of scale this building already is and imagine what it will become. Then picture Trump signs everywhere in a last ditch effort to sell the remaining condos….

The view west down the Chicago River is forever changed for the worse.

Is this another case of hating the man, so you must hate his buildings?

I couldnt disagree more. 100% disagree with everything you said. You are very entitled to your opinion, but I have not heard many, if any, say this about this building. (including outside of these forums.)

I observed at least 100 vignettes of high rise solutions for this exact site, from Graduate Architecture Students with beautifully constructed models.... this design is at the bottom of the scale...

Did Adrian Smith ignore all of these former examples?

Did SOM pursue the university, former students, the professors???

Did Trump have an epiphany when traveling through China?

Whatever happened, it is obvious to many people here in Chicago that we have something that attempts to overtake the riverfront, more than anything else constructed or planned. And sharing the limelight with the Wrigley Building will create an illusion of scale that will make the WB appear to be much smaller… a sad shame.

Sandman, would you rather have seen a smaller building? It is impossible not to stand out when the building will be over 1300 feet. Also the setbacks in Trump are designed to compliment the WB, 405 Wabash, and IBM. Which I thought was a genious way of "fitting in" to the surrunding buildings perfectly.

And the WB appear smaller??? it is small!!! But I think in no way will Trump take away from the beauty that the WB is. No way at all.

what I saw from the formerly mentioned vignettes is a lot of wonerful designs that respected the scale of the riverfront and the adjacent buildings.... the TT does the opposite. This is why I am sad.... but as I have said in the past... we are going to HAVE to get accustomed to this building and like it one day...

and this statement I bolded, have you heard of the Chicago Spire? Also on the riverfront. Also Waterview, Wolf Point, and the planned skyscraper at 200 N. Riverside. All will attempt to "overtake" the river as you say.
