It seems like the Trump Tower got overshadowed or "screwed over" by the Chicago Spire.

I'm really looking foward to the days construction is at an end for the Trump tower. I think it's going to look just amazing in the Chicago skyline even better in the night sky! Though I really don't care much for the guy I do admire him for giving us one hell of a building!

Well, on that one particular rendering/angle it does, but there will be more than one point of view allowing you to photograph the damn thing, I'm sure. ;-)

Please excuse the glare and graininess, but I thought this was an interesting perspective I captured while walking down the river.

That's the color of the temporary lights that the construction crews use before the cladding is installed and the permanent ones can be hooked up.

Shiny

Ooooh. Shiny glass. It's really magnificent. Trump's people really know how to make something look good. I can hardly wait to see the Trump Tower peek over the top of the black box its standing next to. Then it will start to make an impact on the skyline.

Yup.

Yup, SOM knows how to make a good skyscraper. If you follow the link, and look up the Trump Tower, there's a link to an interesting article that discusses how modern skyscraper designs are based off the canceled Skyneedle, using a concrete core and outrigger supercolumns. It does a good job contrasting the old way that Chicago built framed tube supertalls. I just thought that it was kind of cool.
