Tad you're a legend mate.

Any idea whether the rest of the seats will be replaced, cuz they really don't look so good.

Bloemfontein stadium ready for Confeds Cup
26 March 2009
By:
Sapa

Bloemfontein - The recently upgraded Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein is ready to host the Fifa Confederations Cup later this year, Mangaung executive mayor Playfair Morule said on Wednesday.

"The stadium is ready to host the Fifa Confederations Cup in 2009 and the 2010 Fifa World Cup," Morule told journalists during a media conference at the Stadium.

He said the Free State Stadium would be officially opened during the weekend of April 4 when the Cheetahs play a Super 14 game against the Brumbies on the Saturday and Bloemfontein Celtic against Orlando Pirates in a PSL encounter on the Sunday.

The Free State stadium, which would become the home ground of the Cheetahs as well as Celtic, was upgraded from a seating capacity of 38 000 to 46 000.

It now has 100 private suites with 200 seats as well as a VIP suite which was upgraded to 650 seats. Other upgrades include a bigger media centre, parking and security features.

The chief executive officer of Mangaung 2010, George Mohlakoane, said the upgrades cost R315.5 million, while some R325 million was allocated.

The rest of the money would be used to do considerable upgrades at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium, which would be a training venue for 2010.

Morule also announced that the city and the Free State department of sport had allocated some R8 million for a "mass mobilisation" program to make sure the new stadium was full during the Confederation Cup
games.

The Free State Stadium will host four games during the 2009 tournament.

true TUGZ. It's so amazing that soccer can unite people like it does in Bloemfontein. The bloemfonteiners are the Siweleles irrespective of their race, damn that's good. I love the city and it's people and I wish success for the city.

Last thing I expected, a photo from the boring rugby gettogether and nothing from the soccer packed house. Where is the soccer pics people... Almost like that boring KZN'ers, no one supporting SA's best Super 14 franchise and taking some pics of the arch for us.

Is it just me or is that the most rediculous place to go and plak the second bigscreen ?

Picture on the frontpage of the Volksblad of the soccer game yesterday, very small on their website though

You should have seen SABC footage, it did bring justice to the stadium at all. The match should have been broadcast on Super Sport.
