dubai is totally the city of the future, everything they do, from individual building design to city planning, is way ahead of the curve.

Having gigantic highways running through the city is not great planning, and hopefully it won't be a part of the future of any other city.

Yeah cause NY has perfect planning... its sinking in traffic lol. The larger the roads, the better, especially for Dubai.

Why is Burj Al Alam placed on the wrong plot in ur diagram? Thats the plot with the curved towers. And what does this have to do with Dubai Towers?

Buyckske Ruben, why you post something totally unrelated with topic that is also wrong? This is Dubai Towers topic, not Dancing (Signature) Towers nor Burj Al Alam topic, but Dubai Towers.

Quietly boys, i wanted to indicate that there are many other projects going on (new developments) beside de Dubai towers... thats all.
End i now that the "dacing towers" end "dubai towers" are totally different projects!

I think that you need approximately 4 seconds of looking on the forums to realise that there is a lot of development going on in Dubai, there is no need to ,,indicate" it... That is just spamming.

This should be the topic here, not random Dubai developments...

He's 100 percent correct. Building wider roads only eases traffic which promotes more driving and further down the road, suburbia which ends up clogging these highways. To be futuristic, they would almost eliminate roads to promote mass transit, walking, and work closer to home. The city planning dept. seems like Los Angeles (just pave over it with wider freeways), and that place totally sucks to get around and is pretty 1970s in thinking which is far from futuristic.

^ lol i have never seen a wide road here, other than Emirates road and SZR (the two most important arteries of the city). Its not bad planning, just a way to contain all of these cars, and unlike Dubai, in NY you dont need cars, cause you have a subway and mass transit.

Only in Manhatan you might not need cars, in the rest of the city you DO need them ... plus American Interstates are usually 2+2, while Dubai's SZR is 4+4 up to 8+8 lanes, so inner city roads would be wider also (usually are 3+3)

Yeah but given Dubai's demographics and plots devisions, i would say that the wider roads provide more fluent traffic. As in NY and across America, the roads are small and you get congestions all over the place, LA for example is like Dubai on the roads topic. But to be honest these days almost all cities even though not needing cars (having subway ect) still use cars and sink in traffic. I mean why would you give up the comfort to travel with a lot of people? I hope the Dubai Metro improves that but i highly doubt it cause you have to walk to the station and ppl here are not good at walking.

Well, it's true that all major cities faces continuous gridlocks even with major public transports alternatives ... but the ones singled out are the ones without. Hmmm...
