It's something we have discussed often. The only emirati forumer we believe would make a good mod is smussuw. I dont see much creative and active participation from any other emirati forumer.

Unfortunately, smussuw isn't in some mods' good books so it's not that simple. Also, Jan assigns mods only when it's needed.

• It would reduce some of the bad vibes I am getting reading some of the comments.
• I do not believe in banning anybody no matter what view they might hold, people come around through discussion/education.

Why would I ban you? Again, you haven't really pointed out what it is exactly that is bothering you so much? Who's ban are you referring to? Online translator what??

Again, this forum is not a democracy and this is not something I or malec have made up - it's the rule set by Jan (the owner of skyscrapercity.com) himself.

So as long as you're here, you'll indeed need to "put up, have no view or shut up" as you understand it

this is a private website. a private forum. this is not a democracy. never has been and never will be. the reason there are moderators around is to keep discussions productive and not use up useful bandwith (which Jan is nice enough to offer us for free) insulting each other. if religious discussions and the like could be conducted in a mature manner in the UAE forum, then by all means let there be such discussions. History, however, has shown us religious discussions in the forum create useless flame wars. this forum will become like Yahoo messageboards without proper moderation.

therefore, the role of the moderator really is not to keep us happy, but to keep the forum running how jan wants it run - clean, informative and efficient. i think Krazy is doing a great job of that.

at this point, there is no need for an Emirati mod because right now the forum needs just one UAE moderator and we already have one. In the future, if there is need for another mod then yes perhaps we can get an Emirati mod. Smussuw would be a good choice but like Krazy said, hes not the most favored forumer in the eyes of Jan and other mods. So until then, maybe Smussuw could try to shore up some support from the mods in preparation for his "mod bid."
and in keeping with the traditional UAE view of things... if you dont like it here leave

one correction though, there are three UAE mods right now, two of which are active enough for the forums to run smoothly

Should not have any threads after the Chat n Pics section

Confueses the hell out of people they never know if to post there or Sky Majlis.

Also a section called Investment Talk maybe just under Sky Majlis but limit it to one thread and no more to be created

It will make naviagtion easier and forum tidy.


There is nothing wrong with a Lady moderator it would be good, So DG and EG for Moderator.....one of the Two
