That had to be before 1999; Staples opened in late summer 1999.
That's originally the Crocker National Bank Building built in 1968/69, now I think it just goes by its Grand Avenue address now.

jesus, great photos!...and to think that this area used to be a dry (water-deprived), dusty, desert town a little more than a 100 years ago. Now it's a world-class metropolis whose influence reaches the far corners of the globe!
