This picture is so depressing. I would rather have old Bunker Hill back the way it was.

LA changed with the times. Unlike SF, LA from its inception has been about constant change, ambition and urban land form experimentation for better or worse.

Personally, I think LA looked better with those classic buildings and old style homes. Why couldn't they leave pretty much all those buildings and just build skyscrapers around them.

Man, what happened to our lively downtown. It looked so much fun back then. Why did everyone leave?

just wondering what do you think will happen if terrorist bomed major freeway intersections in L.A. It would probably cause so much traffic and slow everything down! I think everything will just stop. People will not be able to get to work.................. wow this really shows how much we really depend on freeways.

The abandoned area of PDR-did you know it used to be a Beveryly Hills type area. Tons of celebrities used to have homes facing the ocean.

^ I vaguely remember that huge mural/billboard in Hollywoodtown. I do remember visiting the Rock Shop on Hollywood Boulevard with my older cousins and their friends. We took the RTD #420 from the Valley into H/H and walk pass the hookers, biker gangs, drug addicts and cholos on the Boulevard. Wow those were the good ol' days....

I've been to the Rock shop. This is on Wilcox just south of Hollywood right? It's right next to the "You are the star" mural I beieve. I remember feeling out of place there since I'm a bit of a preppy and everybody in there was a hippie.

^ Yeah it was like Stoners haven... I remember the workers were like punk rockers with mohawks and your typical long hair rockers with the Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath concert shirts. All I wanted to do is go home and play with my Atari 2600!

I agree. If what happened to Bunker Hill during the 60's were to happen today it wouldn't happen at all. Those mansions and hotels would have been renovated like what's being done today in other areas of the city but back then we didn't have the sense to do that. It was called progress, tear down the old and build anew.

The entire metro will stop... I really believe that if there was a terrorist attack in LA this is what they will do.

It didn't stop us after the 94 earthquake so why would that do it now? With telecommuting options, it would just force people to realize that they can do things from home like never before.
