gotta agree with you, there are a lotta projects in KL but unfortunately not as striking as those in other asean cities...
The residences are pretty plain and sorta boxy...they are all indeed tall but just not as funky, I think Avare, Troika are the only 2 that stands out...Parkview is neat. Lot C hopefully would turn out funky and four season as well...

I think there is a glut in office space in KL right now and soon will be residential units. A majority of buildings under construction now are serviced apartments and very few office towers.

It is not only Marina Bay that is undergoing development though, elsewhere over Singapore, there are plans in place to enhance and rejuvenate older parts of the city including Bras Basah, Orchard as well as redevelopment of suburban areas. These ideas can be found in the Masterplan

Here are selected projects.

Changi Airport Terminal 3

Expected completion in early 2008

1.

2.

3.

Singapore Airshow

Ready in 2008

Proposed Spaceport

Sentosa Cove

Offering a luxurious waterfront lifestyle option.

one-North Masterplan[/b][/size]

one-north zone comprises an area of about 200 hectares in central Singapore, developed in phases over the next 15-20 years. The purpose is to create a vibrant mix of commercial, residential and recreational environments in which you can find conditions that are conducive for success and the achievement of outstanding results.

The master planner for one-north is Zaha Hadid Architects, a leading London-based practice whose work pushes the boundaries of architecture, extending and intensifying existing landscapes in the pursuit of a visionary aesthetic. The firm was appointed as a result of an international selection process.

phasing

Biopolis

Biopolis will have 580,000 sqm of space set aside for biomedical R&D laboratories, residential units, retail and commercial activities. The first development in Life Xchange is Biopolis, a 185,000 sqm research complex housing key biomedical research institutes and biotech companies.

Fusionpolis

Fusionopolis Phase 1 will be the choice location for world-class infocomms and media enterprises to work, live, play, learn and experiment. It will be a playground for the Creative, Innovative and Visionary.

Vista Xchange

• Vista Xchange will be the gateway to one-north.
• A transport Hub - Buona Vista MRT station, future Circle Line MRT station, a proposed People Mover System (PMS) station, and a future bus interchange to provide seamless connections to Singapore's central business district, Changi International Airport and other parts of the island.
• Interesting mix of future high-rise development (near MRT station) and existing low-rise black and white bungalows.
• The epicentre is a well-shaded green canopy congregation space.
• A landscaped "river" that runs through parts of the site and joins the park connector on the northern side of the development.
• Adaptive reuse of black and white bungalows as retail, food and beverage, corporate retreats, artist enclaves (galleries, museums) and creative workspaces.
• Public wildcard building on western edge to encourage diversity.
• Pedestrian bridges link business blocks on both sides of North Buona Vista Road.

Wessex Estate

Nestled amid lush green vegetation, Wessex Estate is a colonial-style residential estate that offers tranquility and retro experience to its residents. Narrow roads wind around the ubiquitous Black and White houses, creating a closely-knit cluster of residential housing. Constructed around the 1940’s, the Black and White walk-up apartments and semi-detached houses have now become home to a community of artists, teachers and actors. On the other hand, open spaces and trees around the estate help create a soothing and relaxing ambience.

Being part of the one-north development, Wessex Estate is slated to be a hub for the creative enclave. It is envisioned as a place where the gathering of diverse and creative minds will engender a bohemian culture that transcends norms and boundaries.
