INVEST KUALA LUMPUR
KUALA LUMPUR PROJECTS ROUNDUP

by www.patchay.com

- INTRODUCTION -

image hosted on flickr

Kuala Lumpur or commonly known as KL, is the capital city of the Federation of Malaysia.

The city began sometime around the late 18th century as a small mining boomtown created by the Industrial Revolution's hunger for raw materials.

image hosted on flickr

Today, KL is one of Asia's most dynamic and popular city destination. The modern and cosmopolitan city, like the country Malaysia, is a melting pot of different cultures of Asia coexisting in perfect harmony.

Most visitors regard Kuala Lumpur for its quirky architecture, cheap shopping and "super-cheap" dining. It is no wonder that KL is one of Asia's most affordable city to stay and live in.

As a result, KL have seen an enormous amount of highrise residential and hospitality developments within the CBD area in the last few years. Amid the leafy surroundings, the rising highrises have again re-defined KL's majestic skyline.

That is phenomenal-, truly some great projects listed. However, I was just wondering and by no means do I want to diminish the progress that KL, BKK or Manila are making, but are all these hotels, and condos necessary? I mean, are there enough people or is there enough demand for so much development in these sectors? One would imagine so by the pictures touting new developments..

Thank you my friend, however, I do believe Malaysian architects are also good. Look at all the cool buildings KL and Penang will be having! Really cool design! Bangkok has the quantity, i.e. lots of buildings, but not all of them have the quality (i'm talking about the designing part). Most new buildings are of good quality though. Let's just hope Bangkok will get some more cool buildings like KL!

Project: Net Metropolis, 5th Avenue
Designed by Oppenheim
Scope: 1,550,000SF
Mixed use development: office block with 3 towers ranging from 24 to 40 stories, ground level retail, 6 levels of above-grade parking and 1 level sub-grade parking
Estimated completion time: 2011
Location: Taguig, Philippines
Website: www.oppenoffice.com
Located in the heart of the Fort Bonifacio Central Business District just outside of Manila, 3 office towers of Net Metropolis are a product of creating maximum flexibility, comfort, and efficiency. Derived from a study of solar conditions and outward views, the towers are orientated so each is rotating of others axis. The entire project is design with versatility and efficiency in mind, with each tower floor plate designed to accommodate differing tenant demands, minimizing interior columns, and harnessing maximum sunlight penetration through the work environment. Sustainability strategies have been incorporated in all faces of the design, from passive external shading devices to roof mounted vertical access wind turbines to a graywater re-use system that will irrigate all on site landscaping.

I think getting Better is the word that will describe Manila...Im not saying that it doesnt have what it takes to be the best but it needs more developments especially in infrastructures and cleanliness..
