I see. The County agenda sheet stated they were getting zoning for the condo-hotel units I guess in advance it looks like.

I found what looks like a photoshopped render for the LVT from another forum showing a possible view of the tower from the east.

If Vegas can pull it off good for them, I'm happy for them. Any city that can build a mega highrise has every right to do so. If they can do it more power to them. Las Vegas has come a long way and sure it may not as old as Chicago, Chicago, or NYC, but if a city has been around for barely over 100 years and can build a mega highrise, that's impressive!!!

Chicago is getting the Chicago Spire which will be taller, either way Vegas has every right to do what it wants just as Hong Kong, Chicago, or NYC do.

Some google models I made with the tower at the correct height.

West View

North View

Distant West View

view from tower at top floor - towards south

South View from the mid Strip

The Two Towers - view from north at Stratosphere observation deck level.

hey, Its not too unbalancing, IMO. I'd say put 2 800-1000 sooters right next to it and it would look awesome.

question - what is that 2nd tallest (not stratosphere) tower right next to LVT? looks like it has around 800 feet in height, whats that?

SNT1 that's the Summit Tower, at 923ft. It is already zoned and FAA approved. It used to be a project that Donald Trump's ex wife Ivana was doing but she backed out of it. The site is looking for another developer.

Yeah I'll never forget the slogan she used when promoting that tower: Size does matter. (A direct attack on Donald Trump's shorter 620ft tower in vegas.

:/ bummer.

Emporis also has it listed as "never built." /sigh.

ah well, pretty cool google models anyway, at least it supports my idea of having 800-1000s near LVT looking good :-P

The day is Wednesday March 21 at 1:00PM pacific time. Our county board of commissioners has a website that broadcasts the zoning and building approval meetings live on the net.

http://www.co.clark.nv.us/Public_com...ideostream.htm

The item for the Tower is number 36.

Agenda sheet with detailed infomation:
http://dsnet.co.clark.nv.us/dsnetapp...a/P0199112.htm

You can see live for yourself whether this tower gets approved or not and people duking it out with the FAA as I'm sure an FAA rep will be there also to spice things up a bit.

Dang, you're really getting good at those googe models, Superfish. Good work! Really get a good idea of the massing that way. I think it looks great there. I had a hunch that photoshopped picture was out of scale.

my pleasure.

I made a simulated view of the skyline with tower from the north, at dawn.

Ah, very cool, I was wondering if there was a way to watch that without having to go down there. Everybody has to approach the podium and state their case.

And then right after that, number 37 is the 10,000 room Tropicana agenda. We know that's already approved, but curious to see if they reveal any more details.

I know of the Allure towers on the right but what's the tall tower to the left?

And LVT fits perfectly in the Vegas skyline.

As I posted above that is the 923ft Summit tower project (formerly Ivana condominium). It's not really canceled, only the Ivana linked aspect of it, and all she did was just add her name to it. The developer still wants someone else to come in and build it at the same height.

Ivana/Summit is cancelled, but the site still retains the permits and approvals to build something of that height. It's my opinion that it's not going to happen, and we'll see something much more appropriate for the site. If Ivana couldn't make this work with all of her money and fame, I doubt any lesser developer will be able to pull of the 923 feet height.

well, if you put it that way Lmichigan, that's yet another reason that LVT should get approved, and help spur surrounding high end development.

There were rumors a while ago that they received approval for a casino on that site in the tower as well, so it's NOT just a simple condo tower anymore.
