Any specific date in May?

The LVT is going to rise on the old Wet and Wild Waterpark. Echelon Place is what's going to rise on the old Stardust site.

Half of the site has been paved for a temporary parking lot for parking convention center truck trailers that used to be parked in the Wet & Wild parking lot along the south side of the site.

Here you can see some remaining truck trailers in the old parking location. I'm guessing that GES has a lease to park there and the property owner needs to accommodate them for the remainder of the lease, but wants to start working in the area where they were parked ... I think.

What at first we thought were panels to be used to build construction offices, have now been determined to actually be panels for the Turnberry building going up across the street. They must be leasing that space to fabricate and stage those panels.

Compare these ...

... to theses.

Altho there has been rumors of the project's demise lately due to failed payments by the developer, we should all wait until after the May date to see what happens.

I fail to see why anyone would go through all this trouble to simply mess up on it, an a resort hotel at that. I have seen this happen with the many condo towers, but a full fledged resort costs billions more and thus requires a equally proportional amount of risk and effort by developers.

The main tower is located in the south center of the land, so it looks like they can easily start it; the paved area is out of the way for the time being.

Another forum has reports of someone speaking to the construction workers that say the trailers are being moved to make way for "a new resort". The name was not specified but the resort would extend from Las Vegas Blvd. all the way to Paradise Road.

Many would think this may be Fontainebleau which sit to the south, but Fontainebleau does not extend all the way to Paradise Road, being blocked by the Turnberry Place condo complex. The only other remaining location is thus the Wet n Wild site, the site of LVT.

The obvious thing is why move the trailers at all unless you need to do something with the land where they were sitting on?

The hasty paving over of the old Wet n Wild swimming pool renants and structures also shows a sudden rushed need by the developers to get the trailers moved as well. It's obvious they will eventually need to tear up the paved lot and remove the pool structures before any other permanent resort structure (such as a casino podium) can be built.

other then the May date, if further observations show excavation or similar work being done on the purport location of the tower, then this project is a go. regardless of final height approvals, they can still get a head start on digging the foundation before any concrete is poured at all.

Take it as you will.

Ugh paving the lot is huge waste of money and material! If they really need parking lot... Why not they just park in the dirt lot just to save money and not waste any material?

Less maintainance and less dust. Dust control is a big deal around here. They probably would have been fined for renting truck parking space on a dirt lot on the strip.

I think mdiederi is right. I've heard there have been a lot of complaints about dust and noise by the Turnberry residences due to Fontainebleau working 24 hrs. So, I'm sure there's more sensitivity than every right now about dust.

I was wondering if that would be a nuisance for the Turnberry residents.

I think they can recycle that pavement too when they're done with it. For instance, tons and tons of the Stardust rubble will be recycled for the new resort replacing it.
