Yeah, San Diego could have the tallest skyscraper in all California, or even the west coast, but we have the damn height restriction.. Almost all the new towers are the same height as One America Plaza (tallest building in SD)

I believe that. When I lived in San Diego (Point Loma) when America Plaza was being built. I was very impressed with America Plaza when it was under construction and after got built. That tower is the reason why I fell in love with skyscrapers! Thanks, San Diego!

this tower has now made big news in Australia because our richest man J Packer has 38% stakes in it.

but they keep saying it will be 2nd tallest in world?
then moscow tower will be higher.also spire of mecca tower. that aside
thats not good about airport authorites wanting only 200m high.

From that article...
Quote:
The group will be sweating on a decision by the FAA, which ruled last year that anything higher than 200m on the site will be problematic, because of its proximity to Las Vegas' McCarran Airport.
But the Fontainebleau right next door, and closer to the airport, is already under construction and it will be 224 meters tall, and at a recent planning commission meeting the Fontainebleau representative said they had FAA approval to go "substantially" higher if they wanted to.

Yeah, the media has a hard time keeping up. The Chicago Spire will be tallest in the western hemisphere and it looks like it will start construction real soon.

to be honest with you Cuwulla, I've always doubted that this will have the potential to reach the full height with the airport issue. Things may change and barriers smashed, but I'm not too confident about this getting the nod. But hey, i may be wrong.

Sydney airport has put a 330m height limit on sydney since 1970. thus Sydney tower is 309m.
council have slapped a 235m height limit for skyscrapers. bugger.

Here in Kansas City the planners built KCI 12 miles away from downtown only to have %85 of the local population complain about the drive.

According to this news story, new documents submitted to the planning commission this week still include the 1,888 foot height.
