With all the current economic mess going on in the US, I really don't think any more of these larger buildings will get approved. It is an unfortunate reality!

Current economic mess my butt!!!
The dow jumped 336 points yesterday.
The largest jump since 2002.

But you are right, that doesnt really show anything.
It is and will continue to be a mess.
Hopefully we dont go into a recession though.

That is like the scenario of 1929 and 1987 market crash. They are trying to hold on but eventually the market did not hold.

I think it has a less than 50/50 chance of being built, but maybe the 1/2 percent rate cut will help.

Actually, the housing mess' impact on the economy peaked in the 1st quarter, though the builder's will be hurting for a while. The credit squeeze peaked last week. By March we'll be talking about a run away economy and raising interest rates again.

Besides, it takes years to build these buildings. The current economic condition is not as important as the one that is expected.

Looking at the macro economics though, the US is hurtin'. The massive debt and extremely low dollar (which continues to fall). It will hit quality of life, there is no doubt about it!

Folks...understand that this project will NEVER happen. The FAA will NEVER allow this building to be constructed at it's current height being less than 2 miles from McCarren International Airport and a US Airforce Base. The city council and the mayor know that is just a pipe dream. I'm not being a naysayer...I wish it was being built...but let's not hold our collective breath.

I think he just means that he is impatient with yet another extra month to wait. It's not directed at you.

I dunno. Will this and the film Showgirls be Vegas' 2 biggest flops ever?

My friend I'm not being impatient at all. I have spoken to several city council members and they have verbally stated that this project, in it's current form doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of succeeding. That's all. My bet is something tall be built on theis site. Just not this building at it's current height.

My friend *sic*? I said "I think"as it is just how it reads as it follows on from other "oh shit, gee, another month" type comments....I should've just left it, coz I see how personal people take things (even when being careful typing politely). There you go ZZII, str8 from the horses mouth.

Much more importantly, it's a saga. Something certainly taller than anything else either being constructed or proposed, but iconic. Hopefully it'll be worth the waits/postponments even if a significant height reduction.

...

The City Council does not have jurisdiction over this site and have no say in the matter.
