Looks very nice. Good for Vegas if they'll build this tower once.

What the ...? How the heck did this become a Vegas-vs-Dubai thread?

Seeing as how the Las Vegas Tower is based on the same engineering concepts and designed by the same architect as the Burj Dubai, I would say that Dubai already has a bigger version.

LVT is probably more in a race with Chicago Spire for title of "tallest in the western hemisphere", that is, if either of them ever gets built. And if Chicago Spire gets built LVT will still be the tallest hotel in the world and tallest structure west of the Mississippi. But it's dubious as to how much those type of titles are really worth. Anyway, I hope they both get built.

And it's obvious that anyone who compares the two has never been to Vegas. There's a lot more to Vegas than the shiny buildings, think of the Vegas you see on here to be the part of the iceberg above water. The real Vegas, and its real attraction, is down below...

Have you ever been there? Because as Indica and TroyBoy stated - no, it's not. Vegas is like the Vice capital of the world, nothing else comes close. Why do you think there's a mass exodus from even Los Angeles every weekend to Vegas?

Tall Tower Proposed

08:57 AM PST on Monday, January 8, 2007

Anthony Curtis

The Las Vegas new year began with yet another big idea, though this one's a bit bigger than most.

A Texas developer has proposed building a $4.8 billion 5,000-room 1,888-foot-tall obelisk-shaped condo-hotel-casino on the north Strip on the site of the old Wet 'n Wild water park.

If built, the 142-story tower would be the second-tallest building in the world (about 800 feet shorter than the Dubai Tower, which is under construction) and the tallest in the U.S. (the Freedom Tower, on the World Trade Center site, will be 1,776 feet tall).

The Clark County Commission is scheduled to consider the application in March, though it will face opposition from McCarran Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration and Nellis Air Force Base.

I wonder what they think of the cracks found in Burj Dubai's foundation?

I wonder how do you you know that cracks were really found there?

And even if they were indeed found, don't you know that cracks are not rare in concrete buildings or structures? The fact remains that the building continues to rise at the normal speed of 3 days per Floor.
