I don't know about this tower....I like it but it doesn't seem right in Las Vegas. And I also don't get this talk about it looking like a *****, if you want to see a building that really looks like one just look at the new renders for the Chicago Spire!

Site prep?

Honestly, if this would actually be built, it would be quite a shocker for me.

It's a beautiful complex, but I wish it was being built somewhere else; Las Vegas hardly needs a building that tall.

Why don't people want it to get built? It's not like you live next to it or anything.
It will make the world more competitive to build the tallest skyscrapers.
The taller the better.

I love the triangular shape. It's an example of mathematics, physics, and engineering dictating the design. The stability against wind sway and collapse are much greater from this design, which provides much greater strength-to-weight.
Lots of artistic features on buildings such as roman-style arches originally were there for their engineering advantages. The Eiffel tower was considered an atrocity by the narrow minded artisans of the time who did not appreciate the mathematics of its design.

So for those who don't like the triangular design, keep in mind that lots of super tall buildings in the future might employ triangular designs, and once people get used to it, they'll appreciate that design more from an artistic point of view too.

Anyway, we'll see soon if it gets approved. I doubt it. They'll probably build a shorter version.

I don't really like the shape of this building. But if built, I'm sure I will enjoy seeing it in person, a structure of this size and all. I say build it!!!

Perhaps it should be known that you can actually live in this tower!

most of the rooms in this "hotel" are actually condominium-hotel units, meaning you can buy one and live in it when you are here, and when you're not, it can be utilized and managed as a full fledged hotel room by the resort for guests.

Good way to pay for the project. A tower built by the people for the people as well providing rooms for usual hotel guests.

Heh, I dont mind this one getting built; LV doesnt really have much of a skyline anyway, no harm plopping down a 1888 footer on it. If anything, it might trigger 1000-footers.

All in all, I think LV has nothing to lose on this one, of course damned FAA needs to approve first ^-^

I don't think LV is the place for any mega high buildings. I'm not saying not skyscrapers but a 1888 footer in a sea of much smaller buildings just sounds weird, i think the supertalls should be saved for the world's capital city's such as HongKong, Ny, Chicago,, and just much more "deserving" city's with some real history

Actually, Vegas needs taller buildings for economic reasons, not just bragging rights, although the height does provide an obvious marketing pitch.

Well, they are building it with rooms that can be converted to condos with kitchens, but currently they are planning to open as a hotel.
