Many people still love boxy buildings, huh? I just love symbolic buildings, especially these "temples".

I don't know if this counts since it hasn't been built yet but:

^175 Greenwich: New WTC

And these two are I think are cool, call me biased:

^Aegon Center

Aegon Center+Humana

Humana

Great thread. I can't pick just one so I'll just list a few in no particular order...

Lincoln Center - New York City - techinically a cluster of buildings but they work best as a whole. Wonderful thematic architecture for what might be the greatest complex for the performance arts in the world.

Burj Al Arab - Dubai - Dubai has been striving for the bar they set for themselves after building this gem. And they've never come close. Sigh...

Hotel de Ville - Paris - Perhaps the finest building in the most beautiful city in the world.

HSBC Building - Hong Kong - A post-modern masterpiece. Much better, I think, than the more celebrated (but still wonderful) 2 IFC and the overated BOC.

Flatiron Building - New York City - Near perfection in skyscraper design with a lot of history to go with it.

Salisbury Cathedral - Salisbury, England - The most beautiful religious structure I have ever seen

New York Times Tower - New York City - Last but not least, and I know I might get some criticism for this choice, but I just think the NYTT is fantastic. If you have chance to see it in person, do so. Piano's brilliance shines in spite of the tower not yet being finished. Here is an incredible picture posted by Pianoman on Wired NY:

01. Tribune Tower (Chicago)
02. One Atlantic Center (Atlanta
03. Eiffel Tower

I really like the Leadenhall and London Bridge Tower proposals in London as well.

THE CHRYSLER BUILDING New York City

it will never be challenged, in terms of design.

IMO, anyone who picks another building is denying greatness...jk

I have many, but if I have to pick just one alias the best, it is Castle Neuschwanstein, Bavaria, Germany.
It is classy, oldy, fairy-tale, situated in a very beautiful and cool environments (lake and mountain), and simply the most beautiful.
Ciao.

The definition of ridiculously unecessary luxury, Versailles, French chataeu and headquarters of the Bourbon dynasty, built by Louis XIV:

The Royal Chapel

and where Germany was officially recognized as its own state, the Hall of Mirrors

Inspired by the Greeks: Capitol Hill, US Congress
