umm... should I? Probably not, but I will anyway...

You've never heard of Frankfurt? What rock have you been living under? (unless that comment was not serious and just meant to flame, in which case I took the bait- hook, line, and sinker)

Have you heard of New York, or Paris????

I know, I was just saying that because since I visit this forum, I discovored a lot of big cities that few people know here. We just never talk of them because my stup*d nation is too close to herself and don't see what happen in the world except big events . Thats why I register to this forum, to discover the world sort of... I live in canada and we got no density at all, but we got huge land to have fun 4 sure. When I went to NYC in May, it changed my vision of the world because I felt so small, and there were way too many people! Anyhow, im offsubject, really sorry, just to tell that some chinese cities got more population than american one, but I dont know there names, and know small things that is not from North-America

Im not stupid, Im well educated, but just never learned the ''history of europe'', so I just know big city from some of their country...

If I ask people here, im sure 1 of 1000 will have heard the name frankfurth before... have you ever heard of Québec city? Lots of people even from united states never have and its right next to them.. so its the same. Dubai for example, is an unknown city for many people. When im talking about burj dubai to my family, I have to tell them where is it, and what and where the country is!

Well I must agree with you Ht, I feel like im a prison in my state. I feel like there are huge barriers to my frontiers... you have to study the story of Québec to understand because its a diffrent and unique culture and language from the canada, and we almost become a country in the 80s, but the no won by some percent. Its like the governement want to keep his people in his state and dont want them to see elsewhere or they may want to change place. So Internet keep me free to the world :P

Well, the one who has never heard of Frankfurt is.... hm not very well educated.
I know the problem with the American education (rather USA than Canada).
They know nothing about Europe. I know people from USA who thought that Hitler and his nazi party would be still alive.....
Well, f.e. i've heard of Québec before.

Frankfurt is one of the 10 Alpha world cities:

Alpha world cities / full service world cities:
12 points: London, New York City, Paris, Tokyo
10 points: Chicago, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Milan, Singapore

Beta world cities / major world cities:
9 points: San Francisco, Sydney, Toronto, Zürich
8 points: Brussels, Madrid, Mexico City, São Paulo
7 points: Moscow, Seoul

forget about the alpha-citys. Frankfurt might be economical important but altogether its just a insignificant small city. i dont think its a shame if u never heard of it.

Its economically important but insignificant? What kind of logic is that. Frankfurt (Rhein-Main Area) is the second largest urban area in Germany after Rhein-Ruhr. It has by far Germany's largest airport and is the most important transportation hub in Germany. Even historically Frankfurt is one of the most important places in Germany.

Blah blubb. Come back to this and praise its glory!

By the by, some fresh pictures of the almost complete refurbished ParkTower. pics by Gizmo23, Patrick and Ahligator

From yesterday, it got its official name put on

I really adore the fresh sandstone/glass facade. Will go pretty well with the OpernTurm once it's completed

hey erbse, to be offtopic is not a sin... we are not in the DAF
but ok, now koolkeatz continues frankfurt-bashing like he did often in the german section (maybe very disappointed, because berlin is wether an alpha nor a beta city (but that's ok, i love berlin anyway)) we rather go b2t.

Sorry when it's offtopic, but i have to comment on this.
Frankfurt is not just an Alpha City because the name sounds so beautiful.
Frankfurt is with London an Paris the most important City in Europe.
As we said above Frankfurt has one of the most important stock exchanges in the world an so on..
From Wikipedia:
"Frankfurt is the financial and transportation centre of Germany and one of the two largest financial centres in continental Europe, the other being Paris.
It is the place of residence of the European Central Bank, the German Federal Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the Frankfurt Trade Fair.
Frankfurt International Airport is one of the world's busiest airports, Frankfurt Central Station is one of the largest terminal stations in Europe and the Frankfurter Kreuz (Autobahn interchange) is the most heavily used interchange in Europe.Frankfurt is the only German city listed as one of ten Alpha world cities.

Frankfurt is sometimes nicknamed "Bankfurt", "Mainhattan" (a word-play with the local River Main and Manhattan) or "The Big Äppel" (also a reference to New York City and the local "Äppelwoi", or apple wine, a type of cider which is produced and drunk mainly in the region "

Look here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/4781048.stm

Frankfurt in Germany has the highest GDP of any European city
(GDP=Gross Domestic Product)

and here: (in german)
http://www.faz.net/s/Rub61EAD5BEA1EE...~Scontent.html

Hessen(Frankfurt is in the state of Hesse) is the most important paymaster of the nation. Look on the graphic! Look at poor Berlin.
I think Berlin should be happy that we send them our money!
