IMO The first one looks like a copy of the Burj and the second one is just plain ugly. Dubai needs something geniune! And a skyscraper that doesnt have a 200-300m spire just to acquire the title of Tallest Building for tourism...
brownie points for a "supertall" spire tacked on?

i think if they want it to be a self sufficient tower the second one is the only serious proposal. It seems to be designed with a large area for catching wind, and a relatively small floor plan which would require less energy to heat/cool. The first one could only be sufficient if it is infact a giant tumour that feeds of everything it comes into contact with.

The first looks the building in the movie " i-robot" , jus put USSR and that's it. Then the second looks like a perverted building touching another building...lol.

Yay!! Can it be a chocolate chip brownie pretty please because i was not afraid to say my honest opinion??

but seriously. i love the burj design, its great but lets get real, its very obvious why they have such a huge spire.

Is it me or was the second proposal similar to another supertall for the plot next to the Jin Mao? I can't be bothered looking around the forum for the topic and pic. Its too slow...

Yep it was. In fact I prefer the atkins proposal to the norr one for some reason. I'm going to model it in sketchup when I get the time

To be honest I like the second rendering better...the first is just so been there done that. The design is like a song thats played to much. That being said, the second is insanely bizarre but I prefer it.

A little render made by me. The tower isn't actually finished since I still have to add a few tumors here and there. Click the pic to see the massive version:

BTW would anyone like to guess the height of this thing? It turned out around 475m here.

Yo malec, how do you get shapes like those tumors in sketchup?

That damn building is really growing on me, there's a certain futuristic oddness about it that just gets me after a while of staring blankly at it, perhaps sacrelige on here but i wouldn't mind seeing it built.

I have an add-on patch called "soapskinbubble" where you select any closed loop and generates a surface. It's handy but in fact here, they make the tower look even more odd since the curves are nowhere near perfect.

i think the second looks good...

lolzzz i dont know about you guys but hey..
the organic look of the second one could look great when built..

hehe as what i have percived on it, not as the CANCER, TUMORS,,
but as nodes of a plant/stem...

judging by it looks it could be a nice backdrop for a scifi movie or game..
well it is a nice architectural piece rather than by some stiffy engineers..

oh well i hope that wins
