Now they just need to knock down that ugly bastard nearby which I think is Guys Hospital built in the bad old 70's.
They're planning on re-cladding it, which will be nice. It's quite the eyesore at the moment.

I cant work out this core... it looks like its actually rising out of the ground as the various items sat on top don't seem to be moving.

You have to remember that what looks like the ground there is actually a concrete slab supported by columns beneath, they've already constructed some of the basement levels before they started the core.

what appears above the slipform is the equipment/material they are using i imagine to help create the core hence why it remains there, the patternation of brown lines are the gaps where the rebar is placed before the concrete is formed hence why the brown lines shall always appear in the same place (well for the next couple of weeks anyway)

Hi, I assume this is a serious post?

I'm having trouble to understand what you're saying. I'll try to explain. A tower crane is a crane that is designed to construct skyscrapers/towers. Maybe it's better for you to look it up on a dictionary or google translator because I'm pretty sure you know what it means in your language. If you have no clue what a construction crane is you might be on the wrong forum.

I happened to be passing on my lunch time walk with my camera and got a few shots today.

The St Thomas Street side of the slipform rig emerging from the basement. You can see the Mace branding.

Pumping concrete

New steel on the north west side of the site

I was there while a section of one of the white columns being dropped into place on the north west side of the site - the pics work nicely in b/w, I thought.

Thought I'd grab a few pics with my phone on my way to work this morning.

While it leaves a lot to be desired in other departments, it does have one advantage over my DSLR in that it's small enough to get a shot through the gap round the edges of the plastic sheet on the bridge.

I can't stop thinking about a gigantic USB port when I look at this.

OK, so I couldn't resist stopping to have a look on my way home this evening and as I had my 50mm and fisheye lenses with me... (can you get counselling for this kind of thing?)

I cranked up the ISO to 1600 and had a go at some hand-held after-dark pics. There was a bit of 'spray and pray' involved when I stuck the camera through a gap in the screens and hoped desparately that I didn't drop it!

[partially de-fished this one]
