I can just about see it from the roof of my office. Great progress on the concrete but the steel needs to come on faster.

I decided to take my third trip of the week to The Shard at lunchtime today and try my chances with a view from the top of Guy's Hospital tower.

I've been meaning to do it for a while, but kept getting distracted by something or another.

Anyhow... I think it worked out OK

To the best of my knowledge, yesterday there are three levels with floors at some stage of completion - excluding the ground and basement, of course

If you find pictures of these buildings going up "ugly" and "pointless", aren't you rather wasting your time on this forum?

What's up with all these pointless posts? Are they using some sort of Google Translate?

Don't make sense at all...

I'm scratching my head too

A small update today.

The new levels of steel (mentioned on the London thread) weren't very evident from street level, I'm afraid.

I think you can see one column just to the right of the core in this view of Gate 3.

On St Thomas Street, the second level of flooring is making its way west along the elevation and some projections over the white columns are filling out.

Compare with the state of affairs on Friday

the lowering of the temporary frame also continues, with some grinding of an apparently cut column taking place when I was there. With the amount of effort going into it, I'm beginning to wonder if there was some change of plan about this thing, or whether this was intended all along.

oh, and thanks pingyao

The core has stopped rising so the steel work can catch up.
