Looking at the core, it reminds me of all those british brutalist towers.

Can anyone advise on how they are building the core when it restarts again. Are they pouring, and then continously moving the formwork up? How are they keeping the space for the openings? lift shafts, doorways etc?

Does anyone know what the cantilevered bit is for which sticks out the side of the temporary frame thing? And why have they put that scaffold up around the columns??

From the London thread

It will soon be decked and concreted and a hoist lift installed onto it that will run up the side of the building at an angle.
To be used by the guys doing the glass cladding mostly I think.

Thanks for all the updates, cybertect Great progress on the steel/floors since I last checked here. I wonder how many more floors will be placed before they resume work on the core??

The yellow marks would usually indicate that these bolts have been torqued(or fully tightened)

So they know that the don't have to go back to them again.

N.B. not all of the connects will require this so don't expect to see it everywhere

Right now I'm more interested in more flooring done than the core.

It just adds to the 'massiveness' factor.

As usual, thanks a lot cybertect.

Welding

Quote:
What's with the two different kinds of steel in use here does anyone know? One looks rusty and cheap, and the other is a nice clean white and looks more expensive.

It's also due to the welding on the supporing beams they cant weld through paint so they don't bother
