New crane being erected on top of the core

New builders lift ready to follow the slope of the building to the top

What will the crane on the top of the core be used for?

Crane

I'm guessing as the building gets taller you would need to move the crane closer to the core for stability, which would be quite a difficult and pointless process. A better way is to have a crane on the core.

I hope that they complete a nice reconstruction befor the Shard is finished. Otherwise it will look like Beauty and The Beast. Coming along nicely.

Excellent!

I'm actually more interested in the progression of the flooring right now, I want to see that cladding.

The last picture in Chest's update shows exactly why there is a height limit for buildings in London..............check how low the plane is flying

Been following this thread with interest and the great photography for a while. Sadly the live web cams look shot (not updating) anyone noticed?

Trust me, we’ve noticed. It’s been driving me mad. I sent a email out telling them the cams were down and they got back to me yesterday saying;

“Thanks for this. I will let the company know.

Kind regards

Baron Phillips”

So who knows when they will be back up.

state of play on the core about an hour ago, showing the new level's appearance

I have some more pics to upload later, but I have to do some work in the meantime

Core

good to see new groth occuring on the core again. I thought they were going to wait for the core crane to be fitted before they'd start forming the core again.
