Amazing shots Rob . I love the picture on the bridge and the public stopping to take a look. Even the lady with her shopping bags is having a butchers. Don’t know why but it makes me so proud seeing that picture. I would love to be there and talk to them about it.

Do they still plan on topping out this year? Looks like it's still quite a bit to go to reach 310m.

That's a bit cynical, don't you think? Maybe that is the case with the expats from Britain, but the best of the Arab world and Asia go to work there. It is a regional powerhouse regardless of its woes, and seeing as its not a democratic state I don't see how you can make a judgement about its entire population based on the government's decisions.

And while Dubai's treatment of labourers leaves a lot to be desired, Western corporations exploit the Asian labour market more than any Arab state ever could, and in much of Asia workers in factories making your products are paid wages similar to those labourers in Dubai receive. Why aren't you up in arms about that?

This is supposed to be about the construction of this tower, not Dubai, expats, politics, labor, deserts, governments, wages, economic woes, Asia, or Ben Johnson.

In the picture above it looks like a stairway to a platform at the top. Is that a real design, or is it just a cutaway drawing to show some inner details?

Arch, I am imaginary.

If your ignorant question was referring to the STAY ON TOPIC portion of my post, please check the forum rules. I am right.

If your ignorant question is referring to the rendering I had a question about, please look back at page 1. Same picture showing a staircase at the top of the Shard. I am not going to read 146 previous pages to see if this has already been asked and answered.

Thanks for your eternal patience.

I don't think it's a stairwell... I think it's the massive radiator that was in the original design and has since been replaced.

I was out and about with only my 50mm lens today and grabbed a few shots as I was passing by.

B/W processing just because it felt right

Did they have to repaint the white jumbo columns before putting the cladding on? The outer edges of the columns are very close to the inner glass surfaces.

Not to say it hasn't happened, but I've not noticed any repainting going on.

I was refering to your staircase question. If thats a staircase, we must be living in zero g. Either the guy who rendered that pic is on acid and you don't understand perspective or its something else. The picture above is not on page 1 so what are you on about?
