I guess you can't understand that "Are you for real?" is insulting.

I understand perspective, I'm an engineer. If it is a radiator, just say "It's a radiator". If you have a better view of what exactly will be at the top of the Shard, attach a picture.

It's just a question.

I promise: there is a very similar rendering on PAGE 1. Third picture down, VERY large so you may have to scroll right.

I for one never assumed that the Shard would have a staircase to nowhere. Then again I'm no engineer, so it's no surprise that idea didn't make sense to me.

I was at clapham junction station yesterday - and zooming in it looked level with the roof. I was impressed I could see the climber(black bit) above the rest of the buildings from that far away (about 7 miles).

This building will be a landmark. Nonetheless, the top is not as nice as I had hoped. I thought that it would be fully enclosed.

Then it wouldn't have any 'shards' of glass would it?

I think it is much better not being enclosed, has a far more interesting shape and really earns the name The Shard. An enclosed top would kjust make it a pyramid shaped building, now its something different.

I like the shard having open top, but I must say in new renders it looks way worse than in the old one. The impression is most likely caused by the steel frame, which has to be there for the glass to be installed on it. Still like the building though. Its really nice glass clading it has

That rendering makes it look like the top structure of the Burj Kahlifa before they jacked up the spire....let's hope there's no hidden spire!

That would be so cool if they projected an image of a flaming eye into the gap...scare the shit out of Londoners!!!

I like the idea of a stairway to nowhere...it would have been a piece of modern art...a global talking point...what does it mean? why is it there?...were the owners Led Zeppelin fans?

And they could have charged a lot to go up there.

I think if they do the lighting right around the top section, it will be spec-tac-u-lar!
